Follow along from Raindrop to River January 10

Are you a resident in the Charles Mill or Honey Creek watersheds? Would you like to learn more about cost share opportunities available through Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District? Please join us on January 10th at 9 A.M. at Perrysville Fire Department (181 East 3rd Street, Perrysville, Ohio 44864)

Starting off 2026 strong with our monthly conservation chats, water quality specialist Zoey Dudte is hosting this event to give residents an opportunity to come learn about cost share opportunities available to them, help ID conservation needs in the Charles Mill & Honey Creek watersheds, activities for the whole family, and we will be giving away an Ashland-Themed rain barrel as a door prize!

If you are a resident in these respective watersheds we strongly encourage you to attend, it gives residents the opportunity to share any concern areas in the watersheds. Ashland Soil and Water was recently approved for funding through Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) for the Charles Mill and Honey Creek watersheds. With the funding we can look into these concern areas to then create a project plan to hopefully restore the concern areas and promote conservation practices to improve the land and water quality concerns that may be in these watersheds.

Ashland Soil and Water offers many cost share opportunities like cover crops, log jam removal, exclusion fencing, and many other opportunities. We will have Rome Rome Marinelli from MWCD coming to speak about these programs and what residents need to do to participate in these programs.

Are you looking for volunteer opportunities? Heather Doherty from Central Ohio Scenic Rivers Manager, will be sharing about volunteer opportunities like water quality testing and canoe clean ups along the Mohican River!

In addition to these speakers we will have activities for the kids to participate in as well like our enviroscape model and other activities! Anyone that attends our eventwill be put into a drawing for a one of a kind rain barrel from our 2025 Rain Beat on Main Street event!
